Job Description:

The Hospital Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of electrical systems and equipment in the hospital. The role ensures uninterrupted power supply, compliance with safety standards, and support for critical medical equipment and facilities operations.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Electrical Maintenance & Repair
  • Perform routine inspection, preventive maintenance, and repairs of hospital electrical systems.
  • Maintain electrical wiring, panels, switchboards, UPS, DG sets, and HT/LT systems.
  • Attend to electrical complaints from various hospital departments.
  • Critical Power Systems
  • Ensure uninterrupted power supply for ICU, OT, Emergency, and other critical care areas.
  • Monitor and maintain UPS, inverters, and backup generators.
  • Respond quickly to power failures or electrical breakdowns.
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Adhere to NABH/NABL and statutory electrical safety standards.
  • Conduct electrical safety checks for equipment used in patient care.
  • Maintain records of electrical inspections, test reports, and compliance registers.
  • Equipment Support
  • Assist biomedical/engineering teams in the installation of medical equipment (CT, MRI, X-ray, etc.).
  • Provide electrical support during renovations, expansions, and new installations.
  • Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
  • Prepare and follow preventive maintenance schedules for electrical systems.
  • Keep track of energy usage and suggest power-saving initiatives.
  • Coordination & Reporting
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for electrical works.
  • Report daily/weekly maintenance activities to the Facility/Engineering Head.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory for critical electrical components.

Skills & Qualifications Required:

  • ITI / Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in hospital/healthcare facility maintenance.
  • Knowledge of HT/LT panels, DG sets, UPS, elevators, fire alarms, HVAC electrical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot under emergency situations.
  • Awareness of electrical safety standards and statutory compliance.
