Role & responsibilities

Electrical Technician Roles & Responsibilities (Automotive Industry)

1. Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance of electrical panels, motors, relays, and control systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical faults in machines such as spot welders, robotic arms, conveyors, and PLC-based systems.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and ensure minimal downtime in production

2. Installation & Commissioning

• Assist in the installation of new machines and electrical systems.
• Ensure proper wiring, grounding, and safety compliance during setup.
• Support engineering teams during machine commissioning activities

3. Control Panel & Wiring

• Carry out panel wiring, modifications, and layout corrections as per electrical drawings.
• Read and interpret control circuits, ladder diagrams, and wiring schematics.
• Maintain and update electrical documentation and layouts for machines.
  

4. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all work adheres to safety standards and industry regulations.
• Inspect equipment and systems for compliance with ISO, IATF, or other quality standards.
• Support EHS team during electrical safety audits and fire safety inspections.
  

5. Shift Support & Documentation

• Provide technical support during all shifts on a rotation basis.
• Record maintenance activities in logbooks or CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
• Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory related to electrical components.

6. Support for Projects & Upgrades

• Participate in energy-saving initiatives and electrical efficiency improvement projects.
• Assist engineers in automation, line balancing, and layout modifications involving electrical changes.

7. Cross-functional Collaboration

• Coordinate with mechanical, utility, and production teams during breakdowns and scheduled maintenance.
• Report critical issues to the maintenance supervisor or engineering head promptly.

Qualification:

Diploma / Degree in Electrical Engineering

Experience:

• 5-6 years of relevant industry experience
• Preferably from preferred industries e.g., Automotive / Manufacturing
