Electrical Engineer Solar & Battery Energy Storage

Role Overview: As an Electrical Engineer specializing in Solar & Battery Energy Storage (BESS), your primary responsibility will be to lead the design and planning of projects related to solar and battery storage systems connected to distribution systems. You will be involved in creating and managing Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), geo-referenced site layouts, and AutoCAD drawings. Your role will also include sizing equipment, specifying components, and developing a Bill of Materials (BoM) for procurement. Key Responsibilities: - Lead design and planning of solar + battery storage projects connected to distribution systems - Create and manage Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), site layouts, and AutoCAD drawings - Size equipment such as cables, transformers, and conduits - Specify reclosers, auxiliary panels, and routing for auxiliary power - Develop and maintain a full BoP Bill of Materials (BoM) for procurement - Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and construction staff - Support construction and commissioning phases, addressing technical queries and change requests - Evaluate OEM BESS container/block proposals and assist in EMS and SCADA system selection - Collaborate with civil/mechanical engineers for support structures, transport logistics, and equipment placement Qualifications Required: - Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent - 5+ years of experience in renewables, grid engineering, or utility-scale BESS - Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Word/Excel - Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and US standards - Ability to size and select electrical equipment based on site conditions - Familiarity with EMS/SCADA systems and grid interconnection - Strong problem-solving skills and collaborative mindset - Willingness to engage in civil and mechanical aspects of project delivery Please note that in addition to the qualifications listed above, experience with US-based distribution utilities, field engineering/construction support, and understanding of battery degradation models, BMS configurations, and control logic would be beneficial for this role.,
