Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Job Summary: The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the effective operation, maintenance, and supervision of all electrical systems across university campus. This includes high-tension and low-tension power distribution, campus-wide lighting, backup systems, safety systems, and integration of renewable energy sources where applicable. The role demands expertise in both preventive and corrective maintenance practices while ensuring compliance with applicable safety and statutory regulations.

1. Operation & Maintenance of Electrical Infrastructure.

  • Manage day-to-day operations of electrical systems including HT/LT panels, transformers, DG sets, UPS, and solar power systems.
  • Plan and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for uninterrupted power supply.
  • Conduct load analysis and suggest optimization methods for energy efficiency.

2. Power Distribution & Campus Lighting.

  • Ensure reliable power distribution across academic buildings, hostels, administrative blocks, labs, libraries, etc.
  • Maintain external and internal lighting systems, including smart lighting (if applicable).
  • Troubleshoot faults and coordinate immediate rectification.

3. Safety & Compliance.

  • Ensure all electrical installations conform to Indian Electricity Rules (IER), BIS standards, and safety norms.
  • Implement electrical safety audits and rectify non-conformities.
  • Maintain records for statutory compliance, including periodic inspection reports and testing certifications.

4. Coordination with External Agencies.

  • Liaise with utility providers (BESCOM), government bodies, and electrical contractors.
  • Monitor AMCs for DG sets, UPS, Elevators, and other electrical equipment.

5. Renewable Energy & Energy Management.

  • Oversee solar PV installations and grid synchronization.
  • Monitor energy consumption and implement conservation initiatives.
  • Prepare and submit energy audit reports and suggest sustainability upgrades.

6. Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain logbooks, service records, vendor reports, material stock records, and shutdown logs.
  • Prepare technical reports, project proposals, and budgeting for electrical infrastructure improvements.
  • Support procurement of materials by preparing specifications and BoQs.
  • Approving of purchase orders & work orders on SAP

Preferred candidate profile

Dip/B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering (Mandatory)

Licensed electrical supervisor certification preferred

Min of 5 yrs of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in large institutions, or campuses or healthcare campuses
