Electrical Engineer

• Design and Development:

  Use computer-assisted design (CAD) and engineering software (like AutoCAD, ETAP, or Revit) to create schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings for new electrical systems and products.

• System Analysis:

  Analyze electrical system requirements, capacity, and costs, performing detailed calculations (e.g., load calculations, protective device coordination studies) to ensure designs meet technical requirements and regulatory standards.

• Testing and Safety:

  Design and implement testing methods and procedures to ensure systems and products are safe, reliable, and compliant with national and international standards and codes (e.g., NEC, IEEE, IEC).

• Project Management:

  Plan, manage, and monitor projects from conception to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, resource management, and coordinating with cross-functional teams (e.g., mechanical, civil engineers, and architects).

• Troubleshooting and Maintenance:

  Evaluate existing systems, troubleshoot complex electrical issues, recommend design modifications or equipment repairs, and establish maintenance and operational standards and procedures.

• Supervision and Training:

  Oversee the work of technicians, electricians, and junior engineers, providing guidance, training, and technical support.

• Documentation and Reporting:

  Prepare detailed documentation, specifications, reports, and presentations for clients, management, and regulatory authorities.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education:

  A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution is typically required; a Master's degree may be preferred for senior roles or specialization in fields like power systems or telecommunications.

• Licensing:

  Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is often required for higher-level positions involving public projects or the supervision of other engineers.

• Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in electrical design software (AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, circuit theory, and power systems.
• Experience with testing equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.) and programming languages (C, C++, MATLAB, Python) is a plus.
