Job Description

This mid-level electrical engineering position at CDM Smith requires you to take on technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, budgeting, and coordinating complex assignments. You will be planning and developing projects that address unique or controversial problems with a significant impact on major CDM Smith programs. Your role will involve maintaining liaison with individuals and units both within and outside the organization, where you will act independently on technical matters within your specialty field. Representing CDM Smith in conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work will also be part of your responsibilities. As a part of this role, you will need to understand and adhere to the CDM Smith Core values, Ethics & Code of professional conduct, as well as be familiar with compliance aspects. Compliance with the Leadership Competence as defined by CDM Smith will also be essential. Your tasks will include planning, developing, coordinating, and directing a large and significant project or several small projects with many complex features. You will be visualizing and assuming responsibility for new business development activities within your areas of expertise. Your expertise in using advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of Electrical design resulting from progressive experience will be crucial. Minimum Qualifications for this position include a Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering and a minimum of 5 years of experience in detailed design for high voltage substation projects through 345kV. You should have experience in various aspects such as protective relay schemes, relay schematics, transmission and distribution type substations, AIS substations, grounding, lightning protection design, AC/DC systems, specification of substation outdoor equipment, yard equipment layout, SCADA, NESC, and more. Preferred Qualifications for this role include a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, working knowledge of the National Electrical Code, experience in designing electrical systems for water/wastewater and other industrial/facilities projects, and a Professional Engineering certification. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience in reviewing drawings/models developed using Revit are also preferred. While the job does not require any travel, please note that CDM Smith reserves the right to conduct background checks, including criminal, employment, education, and drug testing for certain positions. Additionally, during employment, individuals may be required to complete additional background checks and drug testing as necessary.,
