Marine Accommodation Outfitting Electrical Draughtsman

Job Summary:

The Marine Accommodation Outfitting Electrical Draughtsman is responsible for preparing accurate and detailed electrical drawings related to the accommodation and outfitting areas of marine vessels. This includes power distribution, lighting, communication, and control systems within cabins, galleys, corridors, and public spaces. The role requires strong technical drafting skills, attention to detail, and coordination with other disciplines to ensure compliance with marine standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare detailed 2D and 3D electrical drawings for accommodation and outfitting areas, including lighting, small power, communication, and emergency systems.

Develop schematics, cable routing, single-line diagrams, and termination details as per project requirements.

Coordinate with architectural, HVAC, and mechanical teams to integrate electrical layouts with overall accommodation design.

Prepare lighting, power, and equipment layouts for cabins, corridors, public areas, sanitary spaces, and technical rooms.

Ensure all designs comply with IMO, SOLAS, and classification society (e.g., DNV, ABS, BV, LR) standards.

Generate as-built drawings, cable schedules, and panel board details after installation or modification.

Review and update drawings based on engineering changes, site conditions, and client comments.

Provide technical support to installation and commissioning teams, ensuring proper understanding of drawings and standards.

Maintain drawing documentation and revision control in accordance with quality management and project procedures.

Participate in coordination meetings and assist in resolving design or installation issues.

Qualifications and Skills:

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or related discipline.

Minimum 35 years of experience in marine or offshore accommodation electrical drafting.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent electrical drafting and modeling tools.

Good knowledge of marine electrical systems, including lighting, communication, fire detection, and emergency systems.

Familiarity with IMO, SOLAS, and classification society requirements.

Ability to interpret and prepare detailed wiring diagrams, cable routing, and installation drawings.

Strong attention to detail, organizational, and coordination skills.

Effective teamwork and communication abilities.

Preferred Experience:

Experience working on passenger vessels, offshore accommodation modules, or naval ships.

Familiarity with marine cable types, electrical fittings, and installation standards.

Knowledge of BIM tools or ship design software (e.g., Aviva Marine, Ship Constructor) is an advantage.

Experience with lighting calculation software (e.g., Dialux or Relux) preferred.
