Position Title: Assistant Manager Electrical, Instrumentation & Control Location: Pune Reports To: Manager – Electrical and Instrumentation Team Size: Individual Contributor Role Overview: The Assistant Manager – EI&C will lead the electrical, instrumentation, and control aspects of project design and execution, ensuring solutions are technically sound, cost-effective, and tailored to customer needs. Evaluate vendor quotes and assist in technical meetings. Ensure tender documentation and design proposals align with project goals. Operational Support Provide troubleshooting support for existing plant operations. Capture lessons learned and relay feedback to the design team. Continuous Improvement Drive quality improvement, technical innovation, and standards development. Address non-conformances and promote safety and efficiency. Champion knowledge sharing and feedback processes. Review SLD and power distribution scheme for site by various agencies to ensure compliance Implementation of specific LOTO system for the Project Review and approve cable laying and routing at site Provide necessary support to prepare electrical operations SOP Review the electrical permit and ensure implementation of LOTO at sites Implement Inspection program for safety protective devices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Lead Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the design, development and implementation of control systems, electrical components and mechanical designs while leading a team of engineers. Key Responsibilities Control & Electrical System Design: • Design, develop and integrate control systems for machinery and automation. • Specify and select electrical components (motors, drives, PLCs, sensors, relays, etc.). • Develop wiring diagrams, circuit layouts and control panel schematics. • Ensure compliance with electrical and safety standards. • Troubleshoot and optimize control systems for efficiency and reliability. Mechanical Design: • Lead the design team and development of mechanical systems and structures. • Use Solidwork software to create 2D/3D models and detailed drawings. • Perform engineering calculations for strength, load and thermal analysis. • Select materials and components for mechanical assemblies. • Ensure manufacturability, assembly feasibility and maintenance accessibility. Team Leadership & Management: • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure project milestones are met. • Conduct regular team meetings to discuss project updates, challenges and solutions. • Provide training and guidance to enhance team skills and performance. • Foster a collaborative and problem-solving culture within the team. System Integration & Testing: • Coordinate electrical and mechanical designs for seamless system integration. • Perform prototype testing, validation and troubleshooting. • Work closely with production and quality teams to resolve design issues. • Optimize designs for cost, reliability and ease of maintenance. Project Management & Coordination: • Plan, schedule and execute engineering projects effectively. • Collaborate with R&D, Production, Quality, Procurement. • Monitor project budgets, resources and timelines to ensure efficiency. • Prepare and present reports to management on project progress and challenges. • Identify areas for improvement in electrical and mechanical design processes. • Research and implement new technologies for better performance and efficiency. Requirements/Skills and Abilities: • Bachelors/Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical or Control Engineering. • Minimum 10 + years of experience in control systems, electricals and mechanical design. • Proven experience in leading and managing an engineering team. • Knowledge of design in SolidWorks. • Experience with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and industrial automation systems. • Knowledge of electrical codes, wiring standards and safety regulations. • Hands-on experience in designing and troubleshooting control panels and circuits. • Understanding of mechanical design principles and material selection. • Strong leadership and team management abilities. • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. • Effective communication and collaboration skills. • Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
