Job Summary
The Circuit Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and validation of electronic circuits, with a strong emphasis on schematic capture and component selection using industry-standard tools like OrCAD Capture and/or Mentor Graphics Dx Designer. This role involves creating detailed schematics, ensuring design integrity, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring innovative products to market.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronic circuits based on project requirements and specifications.
- Perform schematic capture using OrCAD Capture or Mentor Graphics Dx Designer, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to design guidelines.
- Select appropriate electronic components based on functionality, performance, cost, availability, and lifecycle considerations.
- Generate comprehensive design documentation, including schematics, Bill of Materials (BOMs), netlists, and component libraries.
- Collaborate with PCB layout engineers to ensure optimal board design, considering signal integrity, power integrity, thermal management, and EMI/EMC constraints.
- Conduct circuit simulations (e.g., PSpice) to validate design performance and identify potential issues.
- Participate in design reviews, providing technical expertise and contributing to design improvements.
- Support the prototyping, testing, and validation phases of product development, including debugging and troubleshooting.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
- Work closely with embedded software engineers, mechanical engineers, and test engineers for seamless system-level integration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- [Specify number] years of experience in electronics hardware design and development.
- Proven proficiency in schematic capture tools, specifically OrCAD Capture (including CIS) and/or Mentor Graphics Dx Designer.
- Familiarity with circuit simulation tools (e.g., PSpice, SystemVision).
- Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design principles.
- Knowledge of PCB design considerations, including signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI/EMC.
- Experience with component selection and library management.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
- Experience with other CAD tools like Altium Designer or KiCAD.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as MIL-STD or IPC.
- Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for test (DFT).
