Job Title: EDM Operator (Wire-cut / Die-sinking) Department: Toolroom Reports To : Team Leader / Supervisor Toolroom Job Purpose: To operate and maintain EDM (Wire-cut / Die-sinking) machines for manufacturing, finishing, and maintenance of precision molds, dies, and tooling components as per design specifications, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely delivery. Key Responsibilities: 1. Machine Operation Operate Wire EDM / Die-sinking EDM machines as per job requirements. Set up jobs, fixtures, electrodes, and workpieces with proper alignment. Execute machining programs and monitor cutting parameters. Perform electrode setting, offset adjustments, and spark gap control. 2. Quality & Accuracy Ensure machining accuracy as per drawing / CAD data. Inspect machined parts. Prevent rework by ensuring first-time-right machining. 3. Maintenance & Safety Carry out daily cleaning, machine upkeep, and coolant/dielectric fluid checks. Follow safety norms and ensure proper handling of electrodes, wires, and tooling. Report abnormalities or breakdowns immediately to the supervisor. 4. Documentation & Process Control Maintain daily production logs and job tracking records. Update electrode consumption and wire usage records. Follow ISO/5S practices within the work area. 5. Continuous Improvement Suggest process improvements for accuracy, cycle time reduction, and cost savings. Participate in Kaizen, 5S, and skill upgradation activities. Key Skills & Competencies: Knowledge of EDM process (Wire EDM, Die-sinking EDM). Ability to read tool/die/mold drawings. Hands-on experience with EDM machine controls & programming. Familiarity with tool steels, copper, graphite electrodes, and machining parameters. Precision measurement and inspection skills. Discipline, teamwork, and safety orientation. Qualifications & Experience: ITI / Diploma in Tool & Die Making, Machinist, Mechanical, or equivalent. 2–5 years’ experience as EDM Operator in Toolroom / Mold industry. Experience in both Wire EDM and Die-sinking EDM is an added advantage.

Oversee the day-to-day activities of the tool room, including tool preparation, inspection, maintenance, and repair. Maintain accurate inventory records of all tools and equipment, ensuring their proper storage, maintenance, and timely replacement or repair to minimize downtime and prevent delays in the production of medical devices. Coordinate with production and maintenance teams to ensure the timely availability of the correct tools and equipment required for various stages of medical device manufacturing. Ensure all tools and equipment meet quality standards and adhere to relevant regulations and industry standards, including those outlined in ISO 13485 for medical devices. Develop and implement tool room policies and procedures to optimize workflow, enhance efficiency, and ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality standards. Maintain accurate documentation of tool usage, maintenance activities, inventory levels, and any deviations or incidents. Desired profile of the candidate Minimum of 10 years of experience in tool room management or a similar role within a manufacturing or industrial environment, ideally within the medical device industry. Proficiency in tool management software, inventory management, and potentially CAD/CAM systems. Strong understanding of tool and equipment maintenance, including injection mold tooling and associated processes. Understanding of and adherence to quality management systems like ISO 13485 for medical devices. Strong knowledge CNC machines, VMCs (Vertical Machining Centers), EDMs (Electrical Discharge Machining), and other specialized tools and equipment for medical device manufacturing is crucial. Keyskills: Familiarity with CNC machines, VMCs (Vertical Machining Centers), EDMs (Electrical Discharge Machining), and other specialized tools and equipment for medical device manufacturing is crucial. The CNC Wire EDM In charge is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and performance of CNC Wire EDM machines. Machine Maintenance Plan: Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance plan for CNC Wire EDM machines to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Drawing and Model Analysis: Check inputs including 2D drawings, 3D models, and critical parameters to ensure precision in machining processes. Measuring Instrument Knowledge: Utilize and maintain knowledge of various measuring instruments to ensure accurate measurements and quality control. Safety Protocols: Strictly follow and enforce safety instructions to maintain a safe working environment.
