As a Specialist Simulation Engineer focusing on Durability at Volvo Group, you will be responsible for leading advanced simulation activities to provide engineering insights that support robust design decisions and contribute to digital transformation within product development. Your key responsibilities will include ensuring simulation accuracy and reliability by applying best practices, developing durable design solutions meeting performance targets, conducting structural simulations, performing fatigue life predictions, leading design optimization studies, proposing new simulation methodologies, correlating simulation results with physical test data, and collaborating across global teams throughout the product development lifecycle. Additionally, you will leverage data analytics to refine simulation fidelity and influence key design decisions in the durability domain. To excel in this role, you must possess a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field, along with a minimum of 12 years of CAE experience in the automotive industry focusing on product development and durability. You should have proven experience leading durability simulation programs across multiple vehicle platforms, in-depth understanding of fatigue mechanics, proficiency in tools such as MSC Nastran, ABAQUS, HyperWorks, nCode (or equivalent), and Beta-CAE, and experience with optimization techniques for mass and cost efficiency in engineering designs. Furthermore, you should have familiarity with physical testing, test-simulation correlation, and validation processes, be innovation-driven with a history of filed patents and implementation of industrialized solutions, and possess strong collaboration skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement. Soft skills such as a strong sense of ownership, excellent communication, fast learning ability, team-oriented mindset, and methodical problem-solving approach will be essential for success in this role.
