As a Technical Support - Performance Engineer at Hero Motocorp in Jaipur, your primary responsibility will be to assist in the preparation and execution of vehicle tests. You will ensure timely and efficient completion of test activities, data processing, and vehicle assembly/dismantling. Your key duties will include supporting vehicle preparation, accurate data collection during tests, processing raw data for analysis, and maintaining test instruments and equipment. Additionally, you will provide support for organizational initiatives and collaborate with colleagues to achieve team goals and objectives. In a typical day, you will be involved in vehicle assembly and dismantling for test activities, monitoring parts assembly as per standard operating procedures (SOPs), learning about the objective of each part to enhance test output, and identifying different test cases to prepare a complete test plan. You will arrange test instruments on the vehicle according to test requirements, perform tests as a rider, and monitor instrument readings and vehicle performance. Good riding skills are essential to conduct test activities as per SOPs, particularly for worst riding condition tests. To qualify for this role, you should have a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Automobile Engineering with relevant experience. Technical skills required include performance testing, data acquisition using data loggers, subjective evaluation of vehicle driveability, performance benchmarking of competitors, and ensuring compliance with standards and regulations. You should also be proficient in identifying and troubleshooting vehicle-related problems and collecting and monitoring test data using DAQ systems and sensors. In terms of behavioral skills, you should demonstrate safety awareness for physically demanding tasks, technical awareness with good riding skills and a safety mindset, understanding of new testing tools and instrumentation, and continuous learning to stay up to date with new testing methodologies and instruments. Other desired competencies include experience in the automobile industry, subjective vehicle evaluation skills, willingness to work in the field and on vehicles independently, and hands-on experience in two-wheeler testing. Your key responsibilities will include defining attribute targets for vehicle performance (acceleration, top speed), energy/fuel efficiency, and driveability (throttle response, shift quality, NVH). You will lead cross-functional teams involving powertrain, chassis, calibration, and software to deliver attribute performance. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing and executing test plans for the validation of PED attributes in simulation, lab, and real-world environments.
