Job description: Engineer / Sr Engineer- SQA Location: Krishnagiri, Hosur You Will We are seeking a highly motivated Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) specializing in mechanical parts to manage and improve supplier performance and ensure the quality of purchased mechanical components. The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with procurement, engineering, and manufacturing teams to develop suppliers and ensure components meet required specifications and industry standards.- familiar in Casting forging, machining + Prop. parts To Be Successful, You Will Be Expected To Develop, implement, and maintain supplier quality assurance procedures / standards for mechanical parts. Conduct supplier audits (initial, process, product, and system) and capability assessments. Collaborate with suppliers on PPAP,AOI, DVP / PVP and APQP submissions and evaluations. Collaborate with engineering to review drawings, GD&T, and material specifications for manufacturability and quality compliance. Provide technical guidance to suppliers on casting , forging and machining (e.g., turning, milling, drilling, grinding) processes. Drive root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for supplier-related quality issues (8D, 5Why, Fishbone, etc.). Monitor supplier performance using KPIs (PPM, NCRs, etc.) and implement improvement plans as needed. Review technical drawings, specifications, and material standards to validate supplier compliance. Support NPI (New Product Introduction) activities by ensuring supplier readiness and quality alignment. Participate in design and process FMEAs with cross-functional teams. Ensure compliance with industry standards such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or AS9100 (as applicable). Interface with engineering, procurement, and manufacturing teams to resolve quality issues efficiently. You must have any or a combination of any of the following skills: In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, casting, welding, and forming. Strong understanding of GD&T, drawing interpretation, and metrology. Experience with PPAP, APQP, FMEA, and control plans. Proficiency with quality tools (8D, DMAIC, SPC, MSA). Familiarity with ERP systems and quality management software. Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. You will also understand and communicate strengths and limitations of existing datasets, and recommending new acquisition or processing as warranted. Perform seismic depth calibration and generate depth prognoses and uncertainty ranges for appropriate surfaces and faults. QUALITY ENGINEER – PEB (Pre-Engineered Buildings) ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a Quality Engineer with 3 to 10 years of experience in the Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) or structural steel industry. This is a critical role where the engineer will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality at every stage of the project – from raw material inspection to fabrication, surface finishing, and site erection. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of quality control systems, welding processes, NDT, bolting, painting, and erection methods used in PEBs. This position demands technical discipline, leadership skills , and a commitment to documentation and compliance. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES✔ Quality Planning & System Implementation Develop and implement a comprehensive Quality Assurance Plan and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) based on project specifications and standards. Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) for quality checks across departments (fabrication, painting, erection). ✔ Raw Material & Vendor Quality Control Review and verify Material Test Certificates (MTCs) for steel, bolts, paints, and other critical items. Coordinate with procurement and suppliers to ensure raw material quality compliance . Conduct incoming inspection of materials such as HR plates, coils, built-up sections, fasteners, and welding consumables. ✔ In-Process Quality Control (Fabrication) Monitor fabrication processes such as cutting, welding, fitting, drilling, blasting, and painting to ensure adherence to project drawings and WPS/PQR/WPQ guidelines. Ensure welding is performed by qualified welders, and record weld logs, visual inspections, and NDT reports . Inspect bolting tightness, weld joints, component alignment, and dimensional accuracy during assembly. ✔ Surface Treatment & Painting Inspect and record blasting profiles, DFT (Dry Film Thickness) , and paint quality in compliance with project specifications. Ensure environmental conditions (humidity, temperature, etc.) meet painting application standards. Maintain coordination with paint suppliers and third-party inspectors when applicable. ✔ Erection Quality & Site Supervision Conduct pre-erection checks of structure readiness and coordinate with erection teams to ensure proper alignment, plumb, and bolting of columns, rafters, bracings, sheeting, etc. Supervise and inspect structural connections, tightening torques, sheeting quality, and final finishing at site. Maintain site QA/QC reports and conduct daily quality briefings with erection teams. ✔ Documentation & Compliance Prepare and maintain complete documentation: NCRs, QIRs, checklists, site inspection reports, handover dossiers, and client approvals. Ensure traceability of every component used – from raw steel to finished erection.
