ob Summary

The Duty Medical Officer (DMO) is responsible for providing round-the-clock medical care, monitoring patient conditions, handling emergencies, and ensuring smooth clinical operations during assigned shifts. The DMO works closely with nursing staff, consultants, and hospital administration to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities1. Patient Care

  • Conduct initial assessment, physical examination, and medical history of patients.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring and management of inpatients.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records, progress notes, and treatment plans.
  • Assist consultants during rounds and follow up on their instructions.

2. Emergency & Critical Care Duties

  • Respond to emergency calls and manage urgent cases (trauma, cardiac, respiratory, etc.).
  • Perform lifesaving procedures such as CPR, airway management, IV access, and stabilization.
  • Coordinate with the ER team to triage, diagnose, and treat emergency patients.

3. Medication & Treatment

  • Prescribe and administer medications as per hospital protocol and consultant instructions.
  • Monitor patient responses and modify treatment when necessary.
  • Ensure proper documentation of medications, interventions, and observations.

4. Coordination & Communication

  • Communicate effectively with consultants, nurses, and paramedical staff.
  • Handover complete patient updates to the next duty team.
  • Communicate treatment plans and updates to patients and their families respectfully.

5. Administrative & Clinical Support

  • Ensure adherence to hospital policies, infection control, and safety protocols.
  • Participate in audits, quality improvement activities, and clinical meetings.
  • Report critical incidents or unusual events to the medical superintendent.

Required Qualifications

  • MBBS degree from a recognized medical college.
  • Valid medical license/registration with the medical council.
  • Internship completion and hospital experience (1–3 years preferred).
  • ACLS/BLS certification (optional but desirable).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
