Power BI Developer Job Description Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Power BI Developer to create and manage BI and analytics solutions that turn data into valuable business insights. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data analysis, data modeling, and data visualization, with expertise in Microsoft Power BI and related technologies. You will collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver accurate, interactive, and user-friendly reports and dashboards that drive strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities: Design and Development: Design, develop, and maintain interactive and visually appealing Power BI reports and dashboards to meet business stakeholders' needs. Data Integration and Modeling: Connect to various data sources (e.g., SQL Server, Excel, cloud services) and transform raw data into efficient data models using Power Query and data modeling techniques. Technical Implementation: Create complex calculations and measures using Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) to support in-depth data analysis. Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with business users and analysts to understand data requirements and translate business needs into technical specifications. Performance Optimization: Troubleshoot, monitor, and optimize existing Power BI solutions for performance and scalability, including query optimization and data reduction techniques. Documentation: Develop and maintain technical documentation for all BI solutions, data models, and processes. Required Qualifications and Skills: Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field. Experience: Proven experience as a Power BI Developer or in a similar Business Intelligence role, typically 2-5 years depending on the seniority of the position. Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Power BI development, including Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service. Expertise in SQL for data extraction and manipulation. In-depth knowledge of DAX and the Power Query M-language. Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing concepts (e.g., dimensional modeling), and ETL processes. Soft Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings to non-technical audiences. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy. Preferred Skills (Nice to Have): Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate certification (PL-300) or other relevant certifications. Experience with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, QlikView) or programming languages like Python or R for advanced analytics. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
