As a Postgraduate Teacher (PGT) in Biology at a CBSE school, your primary responsibility will be to teach Biology to students from Classes 9 to 12 following the CBSE curriculum. This role encompasses a variety of tasks including lesson planning, conducting laboratory experiments, evaluating student performance, and providing academic guidance and support. Your role as a PGT Biology Teacher will involve teaching various aspects of Biology such as Botany, Zoology, Genetics, etc. to students in Classes 9, 10, 11, and 12. You will be required to prepare comprehensive lesson plans, presentations, and assignments in accordance with CBSE guidelines to ensure a structured learning experience for the students. Utilizing interactive teaching methods like smartboards, animations, and models will be essential to facilitate better understanding and engagement among the students. Additionally, you will be responsible for training students for CBSE board exams, conducting doubt-clearing sessions, and promoting critical thinking skills in the classroom. Furthermore, you will oversee and supervise Biology practical sessions, ensuring adherence to the CBSE lab manual. This includes teaching students how to use microscopes, prepare slides, and conduct dissections where applicable, while maintaining proper handling and disposal protocols for biological specimens and chemicals. Tracking student performance, evaluating assessments, and providing individualized feedback to encourage academic growth will be crucial aspects of your role. It is imperative to maintain accurate student records for academic progress and assessments, while staying updated on CBSE syllabus changes and educational trends. To enhance the learning experience, you will develop engaging and structured lesson plans aligned with CBSE guidelines, integrating real-world applications of Biology into the curriculum. Additionally, guiding students on career options in medical, paramedical, research, and biotech fields, as well as encouraging participation in Biology Olympiads, science fairs, and research projects will be part of your responsibilities. Attending staff meetings, parent-teacher meetings, and professional development workshops, as well as actively participating in school events, seminars, and extracurricular activities are essential components of this role.
