The IP (Inpatient) Billing & Insurance Executive is responsible for managing billing and insurance-related activities for admitted patients. This includes generating interim and final bills, coordinating with insurance providers and TPAs, handling pre-authorizations, follow-ups, and ensuring accurate documentation for timely claim settlement. Key Responsibilities:Inpatient Billing: Create and update patient bills for all inpatient services (room rent, investigations, surgeries, medications, etc.). Coordinate with nursing, pharmacy, lab, and other departments for service postings. Monitor daily patient charges and ensure accuracy in billing. Prepare interim bills and final discharge bills with approvals. Insurance & TPA Handling: Obtain pre-authorization from insurance/TPA at the time of admission. Submit required medical documents to TPA for approval. Coordinate with doctors and medical records team for timely documentation. Follow up with TPAs for enhancement and final approvals. Ensure all documentation (discharge summary, final bill, claim form, ID proofs) is correctly submitted for claims. Discharge Process: Coordinate with IP nurse station for discharge instructions. Generate and explain final bill to patient/attendant. Ensure all dues are collected and insurance approval is in place before discharge. Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate and complete billing and insurance files. Update billing status regularly in the Hospital Information System (HIS). Ensure compliance with insurance company and TPA guidelines. Assist in internal and external audits. Required Qualifications and Skills: Education: Any Degree Experience: 1–2 years in IP billing and hospital insurance process. Skills: Knowledge of medical terminologies, insurance, and TPA processes. Proficiency in billing software/HIS. Good communication and coordination skills. Attention to detail and accuracy in billing. Familiarity with NABH guidelines and documentation.
