Director - Sports

Position Overview:

Chandigarh University is seeking a highly qualified and dynamic professional for the position of Director Sports. The incumbent will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing sports and physical education programs at the University. The role involves promoting a culture of sportsmanship, fitness, and holistic development among students, along with managing infrastructure, teams, and compliance with all regulatory norms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Sports Department in alignment with the Universitys mission.
• Plan, organize, and oversee all sports, games, and physical education activities on campus.
• Ensure compliance with UGC norms and other regulatory requirements related to sports and physical education.
• Foster student participation in intra-university, inter-university, state, national, and international sporting events.
• Supervise recruitment, training, and performance of coaches, trainers, and staff.
• Oversee the maintenance and development of sports infrastructure and facilities.
• Promote a healthy lifestyle and physical well-being through structured programs and awareness drives.
• Collaborate with academic and administrative departments for holistic student development.
• Manage the budget, resources, and operations of the Sports Department effectively.

Mandatory Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Physical Education or relevant discipline (as per UGC norms).
• Comprehensive knowledge of UGC norms, rules, and regulations in the field of Physical Education and Sports.
• Strong academic and administrative background in sports and physical education.
• Proven experience of 15-20 years in sports.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

• Proven leadership in sports management at university or institutional level.
• Experience in organizing national and international sports events/tournaments.
• Strong networking with sports associations and governing bodies.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to fostering a culture of discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
