Director of Engineering - Hyderabad

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Leader for its Lead Design Center in Hyderabad, India. This is an exciting opportunity to drive change and lead a significant transformation of our organization as we continue to evolve from a traditional industrial company to a flexible, modern digital enterprise. This position is responsible for leading a growing team of experienced professionals who predominantly work on our software products in support of our Embedded, Edge, Cloud, and supporting application areas. These software products and associated development ecosystems are tasked with providing increased intelligence to our Product systems, service infrastructure, and Customer experience. This Design Centre is part of the global R&D network and is one of the largest R&D centers for the Company, globally. A wide range of product development activities are carried out at the Design Centre for local, regional and global applications. This position will provide significant visibility to senior Global leadership. He/She will have broad responsibility for enabling the development teams within Design Centre to develop world-class products for The Company. The Design Centre Engineering Director must provide clear leadership and vision, inspire and motivate staff to achieve excellence, and mentor them as they develop new skills. Efficient communication both within the Design Centre and Key Stakeholders within the Companys Global footprint are critical to success.

Key Accountabilities

• Deliver innovative software products with agility and quality.
• Be a critical change agent, passionate on developing strong culture & behaviors of high-performance teams and individuals to drive transformation to an innovative culture in an increasingly digital world.
• Provide leadership in driving adoption of Agile and Scaled Agile methodologies in the development of the Companys product and processes
• Lead and coordinate the engineering priorities for Hyderabad in close cooperation with Digital Technologies, Engineering and key cross-functional stakeholders
• Implement processes, tools and support structure to ensure engineering deliverables are in accordance with the Companys design guidelines, quality and safety standards and regulations. • Develop an optimized organization and build capabilities and competencies that are required for competing in an increasingly digital and connected world. Continuously improve these capabilities by coaching, developing, attracting, recruiting, retaining and motivating the team. • Stay abreast of latest technologies/process and evaluate their application in the Company.
• Report on Engineering activities on a regular basis to the Senior Management team, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of the relevant Key Performance Indicators.

THE PERSON

The leader of the Lead Design Center Hyderabad, will have proven success in motivating and energizing engineering teams to deliver successful products and services. He/She will have proven experience in transforming an organization to embrace change and create a culture that is keen to engage stakeholders and deliver products/services that meet or exceed requirements. He/She will be an accomplished engineer/technology leader that has led large engineering teams in a multi-national company and is experienced in working in a global setting. The Design Centre will have a demonstrated track record delivering high value software products in engineering companies. He/she will serve as an inspiring role model, a leader the team wants to emulate and inspire a highly talented next level of engineering leaders.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

• BS minimum / MS preferred in Engineering or related technical discipline. Strong consideration will be given to a leader with a software engineering or computer science background.

• At least 25 years of progressively corporate industrial business engineering / Technology experience with relevant practice in multinational companies. Rich experience in working with global engineering organization with multidiscipline group

• Experience with software products in the embedded, connectivity, Infotainment, or broader IoT area is strongly required

• Hands on experience in embedded Linux, RTOS, systems programming, networking, edge devices, cloud based scalable application development and deployment is preferred.

• Knowledge on UI/UX, full stack and DevSecOps is desirable.

• Some experience on industrial products in the areas of Model Based Design, Hardware In the Loop and Matlab is a plus.

• Experience in digitization of industrial products using efficient IoT mechanism is highly preferable.

• Innovative and integrative thinker, quick to visualize solutions and generate ideas. Ability to drive teams with high energy, enthusiasm & self-motivation.

• Experience with execution of Agile or Scaled Agile product development methodologies is strongly preferred • Focus on execution & responsiveness to internal and external customers/ stakeholders. Demonstrated sense of ownership and analytical skills.

• Ability to network, collaborate with and influence large and diverse teams/ stakeholders. Experience working effectively in matrix org structure.

• Able to effectively balance local and global priorities as well as short term and longer-term objectives.

• Incumbent should have excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills. Demonstrated capability of handling difficult decisions.
