Director, Core Infrastructure

Role Overview: You will be a Director in Infrastructure & Operations within the Product Operating Model (POM) leading Mumbai platform teams to deliver GCP compute, core networking, and foundational services. Your role will focus on reducing handoffs, increasing speed, and ensuring quality at scale. Key Responsibilities: - Lead Mumbai execution for the GCP compute platform including managing multiregion GKE clusters, GCE fleets, autoscaling, capacity planning, image/patch pipelines, upgrades, SLOs, and production runbooks. - Drive Cloud Development enablement by defining reusable Terraform modules, standardizing GitHub Actions workflows, operating GitOps for infra and cluster resources, and enforcing PR-based change management. - Own platform Networking scope by managing VPC architecture, firewall policies, routing, secure ingress/egress via Google load balancers, and hybrid connectivity aligned to enterprise standards. - Operate core shared infra services such as DNS, NTP, backups/recovery orchestration, SMTP/SFTP, and integrate them with compute and network primitives. - Coordinate with the DBA platform for provisioning/operations of managed services (e.g., Cloud SQL, AlloyDB, Spanner, Redis, MongoDB Atlas, Cassandra) used by platform and product teams. - Partner with SRE, SRO, and Developer Platform to embed reliability by design through production-readiness, runbooks, incident/change interfaces, and observability hooks. - Improve platform outcomes by focusing on availability/SLO attainment, MTTR for infra incidents, change failure rate, adoption of golden paths/modules, cycle time for infra changes, and cloud efficiency. - Lead 3-4 managers/leads and their teams in Mumbai, hire, coach, and develop talent while reinforcing values-aligned leadership and an inclusive, high-accountability culture. Qualifications Required: - 12+ years in infrastructure/platform engineering with 3+ years managing managers/leads, with deep experience operating GCP (GKE/GCE) and modern cloud operating models. - Hands-on experience in Terraform, GitHub Actions, FluxCD/GitOps, Kubernetes lifecycle, GCP IAM/guardrails. - Proven track record of productizing platform capabilities with adoption KPIs to reduce cognitive load and improve developer throughput. - Strong stakeholder communication and coordination skills with SRE/SRO/Dev Platform and Network/DBA counterparts.
