Job Description

Department: Tool & Die / Mechanical Engineering

Job Summary:

Die Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop dies for sheet metal components including
progressive, compound, and forming dies
.
Create
2D and 3D CAD models
using software such as NX.
Analyse part drawings and define die requirements (material type, press capacity, tolerances, etc.).
Perform
DFM (Design for Manufacturability)
reviews to ensure tool feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
Prepare
detailed die design drawings, BOMs, and documentation
for manufacturing.
Collaborate with toolmakers, machinists, and manufacturing teams to support die build and try-out.
Troubleshoot die issues and make modifications for optimization during try-outs or production.
Maintain documentation for die maintenance, revisions, and engineering changes.
Work with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet
quality, safety, and efficiency standards

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool Design, or related field.
5+ years
of experience in die design for sheet metal parts.
Strong knowledge of
metal forming processes
, die types, tolerances, and materials.
Proficiency in
CAD software
(e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, NX, CATIA).
Familiarity with
GD&T
, machining, and tool room practices.
Good understanding of
press operations
and sheet metal behaviour.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Problem-solving mind-set and strong attention to detail.
