Job Description

Role Overview: As a Dialysis Technician, your primary responsibility will be to provide quality care to patients undergoing dialysis treatment. You will be tasked with monitoring patients during dialysis, providing emotional support, and educating them on proper healthcare while on dialysis. Additionally, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining dialysis machines, troubleshooting technical issues, and assisting with vascular access procedures. Collaboration with medical professionals, documentation of patient treatments, and ensuring a safe environment are also key aspects of this role. Key Responsibilities: - Monitoring patients: Observing patients during dialysis to identify and address any issues or complications. - Assisting patients: Providing emotional support and answering questions or concerns. - Educating patients: Explaining the dialysis process and providing information on proper healthcare while on dialysis. - Assisting with activities of daily living: Helping patients with personal care and hygiene. - Preparing dialysis machines: Assembling and ensuring the proper functioning of dialysis machines before treatment. - Operating dialysis machines: Connecting patients to the machine and adjusting settings as needed. - Maintaining equipment: Cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining dialysis machines and equipment. - Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving technical issues with dialysis machines. - Assisting with vascular access: Cannulating vascular access sites (fistulas, grafts, or catheters). - Monitoring vital signs: Checking and recording patients" vital signs. - Documenting patient treatments and observations accurately. - Monitoring and testing the water treatment system according to unit policy. - Collaborating with medical professionals to ensure optimal patient care. - Communicating with patients and families to provide information and explain procedures. - Responding to dialysis-related emergencies in patients and equipment. - Following infection control policies and procedures. - Maintaining a safe, healthy, and secure environment. - Following biomedical waste disposal protocols. Qualifications Required: - Prior experience as a Dialysis Technician or in a similar role preferred. - Certification in dialysis technology or relevant field is a plus. - Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team. - Knowledge of vascular access procedures and vital sign monitoring. - Ability to troubleshoot technical issues with dialysis machines. - Understanding of infection control policies and procedures. - Willingness to work in a fast-paced and challenging healthcare environment.
