As the R&D Team Lead reports to this position, your role involves contributing to ABB's success through technology, software, product, and system development. The role contributes to the Electrification business Smart Power division in Hyderabad, India, with the following key responsibilities: - Being a team player to collaborate with cross-functional and multinational teams. - Designing PCB layout and Gerber generation. - Understanding circuit flow, component placement, and routing to meet product standards. - Designing Layout for DFM (Design for Manufacturability), DFT (Design for Test), covering 100% ICT (In-circuit test). - Interacting with PCBA contract manufacturers and resolving assembly issues. - Participating in PCB layout reviews and providing suggestions for product quality improvement. - Working on new product introduction (NPI), Quality, and C-Change projects. - Collaborating with design engineers on proto build and testing for functional, EMI, and reliability tests. Qualifications for this role include: - BE / B.Tech in ECE, EEE, E&I, or similar streams. - Minimum 4 years of experience in electronics product layout and Gerber generation. - Experience in designing PCB layout for Analog, Digital, Microcontroller, Bluetooth, and Wifi communications. - Knowledge of PCB guidelines for component placement, meeting IPC, CE standards, EMI/EMC immunity, and SI (signal integrity). - Experience working on multilayer stack-up boards for Power, Signal, and impedance matching for communication circuits. - Hands-on experience in library part creation for layout, Altium, Cadence tools, and DFM tools like Valore. - Knowledge of PCB fabrication, assembling process, working with PCB assemblers, and resolving issues. - Experience in layout for Trip unit of Circuit breakers, Human & Equipment protection devices, Meters, UPS, and Motor controller electronics. As a key member of the team, your responsibilities will include managing the HW team and partners to ensure timely delivery of products, taking complete ownership of the product to address any blockers effectively, collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors for seamless operations, evaluating new technologies to enhance product competitiveness, and mentoring junior engineers when necessary. To excel in this role, you must have experience in product design and development for Avionics, Defence, or space applications, covering the entire product life cycle from requirements to detailed design and analysis. You should be adept at working with multi-disciplinary teams and vendors in HW/SW Co-Design, conducting feasibility analysis, using simulation tools, and ensuring product performance evaluation and qualification as per industry standards like MIL-STD and DO-160. Additionally, you should have expertise in Hardware formal qualification, HW Integration, Verification Review, and certification requirements compliance. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in EE or CS along with a minimum of 10 years of experience in managing hardware teams across all stages of the product life cycle are basic requirements for this position.
