Join Barclays as an Engineering Excellence Lead where we are looking for a passionate Engineer and Technical Educator to join our Engineering Excellence Team within the Developer Services organization. You will play a critical role in helping developers adopt modern engineering practices, learn new tools, and improve their craft. To be successful in this role, you should have a strong software engineering background, with hands-on experience in modern development practices (CI/CD, DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, etc.). Additionally, proficiency in at least one major programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C#, Go, etc.) is required. You should also have the ability to build technical demos, hands-on workshops, prototypes, and code samples to support education efforts. Excellent public speaking and presentation skills are essential, as you will be comfortable addressing audiences of all sizes. Good technical writing skills are also important, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences. Some other highly valued skills may include experience in developer education, developer enablement, or technical advocacy. A background in hosting technical workshops, hackathons, or meetups, as well as familiarity with open-source software and community-driven development, would be beneficial. You may be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in the role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills. This role is based in our Pune office. Purpose of the role: To design, develop and improve software, utilizing various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. Accountabilities: - Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance. - Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives. - Collaboration with peers, participation in code reviews, and promotion of a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing. - Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth. - Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions. - Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
