Job Title: Customs House Agent (CHA) Department: Logistics / Freight Forwarding / Import-Export Location: [Specify Location] Reports to: Logistics Manager / Operations Head ⸻ Job Purpose: To handle all customs-related formalities for the import and export of goods, ensuring compliance with government regulations and timely clearance of shipments. ⸻ Key Responsibilities: 1. Customs Clearance: • File Bill of Entry (BOE), Shipping Bills, and other customs documents. • Coordinate with customs officials for inspections, assessments, and release of shipments. • Ensure timely clearance of goods from air, sea, and land ports. 2. Documentation Handling: • Prepare and verify documents like invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, etc. • Maintain updated records as per customs regulations and internal policies. 3. Liaison: • Interact with clients, freight forwarders, customs officials, and port authorities. • Resolve queries related to classification, valuation, and duty structure. 4. Compliance: • Stay updated on customs laws, duty structures, EXIM policies, and notifications. • Ensure proper adherence to DGFT, GST, and customs regulations. 5. Licensing & Permits: • Assist in obtaining or renewing import/export licenses, EPCG, MEIS, and other schemes. 6. Cost & Time Optimization: • Monitor demurrage, detention, and port charges to avoid additional costs. • Advise clients on best practices to minimize delays. ⸻ Requirements: • Qualification: Graduate in any stream (Commerce preferred). CHA License mandatory. • Experience: 2–5 years in customs clearance/logistics. • Skills: • Good knowledge of ICEGATE, EDI systems. • Strong communication and negotiation skills. • Proficiency in MS Office & documentation tools. • Detail-oriented and well-organized. ⸻ Preferred Certifications: • Licensed CHA under Indian Customs Act. • Familiarity with SAP, ERP systems is a plus.
