As an innovative R&D Engineer specializing in Steam Turbine Blade Aerodynamics, you will be joining our turbine technology research and development team at the forefront of developing the next generation of high-performance, low-emission steam turbines. Your primary focus will be on designing and optimizing blade airfoil shapes and flow paths to enhance steam turbine efficiency, reliability, and performance under real-world operating conditions. Your responsibilities will include designing and optimizing blade airfoils and steam turbine flow paths to maximize aerodynamic efficiency and minimize losses. You will be conducting CFD simulations (steady/unsteady, 2D/3D) to evaluate flow characteristics, such as boundary layer interactions, secondary flows, tip leakages, and wet steam behavior. Additionally, you will develop and implement advanced aerodynamic features for performance improvement and collaborate with a cross-functional team to ensure aero-structural integration, manufacturability, and thermal performance alignment. Correlation of CFD predictions with experimental data and documenting research findings will also be part of your role. To qualify for this position, you should hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline, preferably from a Govt. Engineering College. You should have 5-10 years of experience in Steam Turbine Blade Design or Turbomachinery Aerodynamics, with proficiency in CFD Tools such as ANSYS CFX/Fluent, Star-CCM+, etc. A strong understanding of turbomachinery flow physics, including blade loading, boundary layers, shocks, and secondary flows, is essential. A PhD in turbomachinery aerodynamics would be an added advantage, along with knowledge of blade manufacturing constraints and design-for-manufacturing principles.
