Job Description

We are looking for a Designer to start up a new Regional Assortment team for Menswear in India.
The team will consist of a Designer and a Buyer, responsible to create a commercial and locally relevant assortment for our Indian customer. By using our global assortment as base and in strong collaboration with Product-teams in Stockholm, you will optimize the biggest and best products from global while also creating commercial and locally relevant products unique for India. The team will focus mainly on Menswear collection with some extended responsibility for both men/women on local India shoes and jewellery. Besides the core-assortment intended for our physical and digital store, you will in this role also guide the local team currently optimizing our locally produced speed-buying for our marketplaces.
As Designer Local Relevance you will design and develop current and commercial products, securing the best locally relevant customer offer while not compromising on our Fashion-ambition. You will work with a wide range of products also including Accessories and Jewellery. In this role you will have the opportunity to deepen your knowledge within production, by working close to colleagues in Production, visit suppliers, pick fabrics etc.Main Responsibilties include :
  • Utilize customer, fashion, competitor and selling insights to develop the best Customer offer and based on insights identify whats next for the target customer
  • Identify and communicate key fashion products/materials/colours/silhouettes/licenses/prints, relevant for the target customer and in line with the creative goal and the assortment strategy
  • Main responsible for the design of the products in the Local Relevance Assortment
  • Collaborate with team to secure all necessary aspects of the product such as fit & size, print, timeline, price, and profitability
  • Collaboration cross departments/categories to enable coordination of the products in terms of fit, colour, prints, and materials into a coherent, current, and commercial collection
  • Close collaboration with suppliers to secure best product
  • Close collaboration with the local merchandising & marketing-teams making sure our locally designed collections fit the purpose of fashion-elevation needed to fill the gaps in our commercial plan
  • Guide & educate the local market-place speed-team in H&M way of working and design direction to ensure those products are in line with our overall AO strategy.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with the below skills & experiences :
  • BA/MA degree in Fashion Design working as a Product Designer or Assortment Designer today
  • In depth knowledge of the fashion and/or retail industry and a strong sense of style and trends relevant to the target customer(s)
  • Customer centric mindset with clear understanding of the target customer(s)
  • Well-developed design skills.
    • Ability to create current and commercial products that meet requirements in terms of fashion level, price, quality, and sustainability
    • Knowledge regarding materials, trims, and components
    • Knowledge regarding construction of the type of products that are relevant for the assignment. Understanding of how technical aspects will influence the design of the product and vice versa
  • Previous experience of working in Production is preferred
  • A team player who thrives working at fast paced and in a diverse setting where a wide global cultural awareness is key
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with multiple stakeholders
  • High ability to take own initiatives and decision making
  • English fluency
