Job Summary:

Solar Design Manager

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the solar design engineering team for ground-mounted and rooftop solar projects (on-grid & off-grid).
• Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs for solar PV systems using AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, and similar tools.
• Review client requirements and site data to develop optimal system layouts and electrical configurations.
• Perform technical analysis, system sizing, yield estimation, and energy modeling.
• Coordinate with project, procurement, construction, and O&M teams for design alignment and execution support.
• Ensure adherence to national and international electrical and solar standards (IS, IEC, NEC, IEEE, etc.).
• Oversee preparation of single-line diagrams (SLD), GA drawings, wiring schematics, and cable schedules.
• Manage design changes, BOQ preparation, technical documentation, and approval submissions.
• Evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance design efficiency and system performance.
• Provide mentorship, performance reviews, and technical guidance to the junior design team.
• Support pre-sales team in technical proposals, tenders, and client interactions.
• Liaise with statutory bodies and utility agencies for grid approvals and technical clearances.

Key Skills & Tools:

• Design Software:

  AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, SketchUp, ETAP, Dialux (basic), MS Excel (advanced)

• Technical Expertise:

  Solar PV design (AC/DC), String & Inverter configuration, Shadow analysis, SCADA & communication systems
• Strong knowledge of HT & LT electrical systems, substations, and grid integration
• Familiarity with government and regulatory policies related to solar projects (India-specific: MNRE, DISCOMs, CEIG, etc.)
• Excellent project documentation, report writing, and presentation skills

Educational Qualification:

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Electronics / Renewable Energy / Power Systems
• M.Tech or Certification in Solar Design / Renewable Energy (Preferred)

Experience:

• Minimum 10 years in solar project design and engineering
• Must have handled at least 50 MW of cumulative solar design (utility/commercial/industrial projects)
