About the Role

This role is ideal for a hands-on design intern who is eager to work at the intersection of product, space, and visual storytelling. As a Design Intern (Generalist), you will support the creation of physical retail elements and the visual language that lives on them, contributing to experiences that shape how shoppers engage with brands in-store.

You will collaborate closely with product development, visual design, and strategy teams in a process-led, strategy-first environment.

From early research and concept exploration to 3D mockups and visual layouts, this role offers exposure to the full lifecycle of retail touchpoint design.

Overview of the Job

As part of the design team, you will work across a variety of retail touchpoints such as displays, fixtures, and in-store elements, helping translate brand ideas into tangible, real-world experiences.

You'll support both 3D and 2D design work, contributing to the shopper journey through form, structure, graphics, and visual cues.

Your work will involve sketching, modelling, moodboarding, and collaboration across teams to ensure consistency and quality in execution.

This internship provides an opportunity to learn how retail environments are conceptualised, designed, and refined in a fast-paced studio setting while building a strong foundation in retail experience design.

Key Responsibilities

• Retail touchpoint design:

  Support the design of retail displays, fixtures, and in-store elements that align with brand identity and shopper behaviour. Help translate strategic brand ideas into functional and engaging physical touchpoints.

• Concept development and exploration:

  Create quick sketches, early explorations, and detailed 3D mockups to visualise ideas. Contribute to moodboards, references, and research that inform strong design directions.

• Visual and graphic support:

  Assist with visual layouts, icons, and graphic elements that add clarity, personality, and consistency to retail spaces and touchpoints.

• Cross-team collaboration:

  Work closely with product, visual, and strategy teams to ensure design intent is carried through across form, graphics, and execution. Participate in reviews and incorporate feedback to refine concepts.

• Research and documentation:

  Support research into materials, formats, trends, and shopper behaviour. Help document design explorations and iterations as part of the project workflow.

Experience and Educational Qualifications

Final-year students or recent graduates in Product Design, Industrial Design, Communication Design, Visual Design, or Exhibition Design.

Skills

• Strong interest in retail, spatial, and touchpoint design
• Ability to think across both 3D and 2D design contexts
• Basic proficiency in 3D tools such as SketchUp, Rhino, Blender, or similar
• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
• Clear communication skills and openness to feedback
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-moving studio environment
