Design Engineer - Substation Design

Role & responsibilities

1. Design & Site Assessment:

• Lead the front-end, preliminary, and detailed design of EHV substations for renewable energy projects (Solar PV/Wind).
  • Prepare and review Single Line Diagrams (SLD), layout plans, AC & DC SLDs, and detailed engineering documents for substations. • Conduct electrical calculations for earthing systems, lightning protection, illumination design, and other critical substation components. • Prepare RFPs for EHV substations (ISTS/Captive Renewable EPC Packages). • Conduct in-depth GIS/AIS substation design up to 400kV, including equipment sizing, layout design, and auxiliary system design. • Perform engineering calculations for battery sizing, CT & VT sizing, MV & LT cables, auxiliary transformer sizing, etc. • Review and finalize technical documentation such as Bill of Materials (BOM) and technical data sheets. • Collaborate with vendors to resolve technical queries and review equipment specifications.

2. Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure all substation engineering designs comply with local, state, and CTU regulations and relevant codes.
• Work closely with regulatory authorities to secure necessary permits and approvals for substation construction by preparing and submitting relevant drawings.

• Oversee quality assurance processes for EHV substation engineering deliverables, ensuring designs meet industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular design reviews and audits to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure compliance with standards.

5. Project Oversight:

• Assist in project planning, scheduling, and budgeting for EHV substation engineering activities.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement strategies to mitigate issues during the design and execution phases.
