As a Set Designer, your primary responsibility will involve visualizing, conceptualizing, and sketching stage setups, immersive spaces, and event environments. You will be tasked with translating event briefs and creative themes into tangible spatial designs for a variety of events such as weddings, brand launches, concerts, fashion shows, exhibitions, and theatre shows. Your role will also require you to create 2D/3D renderings for stages, installations, immersive props, lounges, and experience zones. Additionally, you will design functional and aesthetic stage backdrops, bars, arches, entrances, and thematic setups to enhance the overall event experience. Collaboration with production teams, fabrication vendors, lighting designers, and AV teams will be essential to ensure the feasibility and integrity of design execution. You will attend site recces and provide layout solutions based on event flow and technical constraints. During the setup and execution phase, your presence on-site will be crucial to ensuring quality, detailing, and timely completion. You will also be responsible for suggesting on-site improvisations and supervising design-sensitive installations. As part of your role, you will prepare mood boards, reference decks, design presentations, and technical layouts for internal and client approvals. Maintaining and updating a detailed design portfolio will also be expected from you. To qualify for this position, you should hold a Bachelor's/Master's Degree or Diploma in Set Design/Theatre Design, Architecture/Interior Design, Event Design/Production Design, or Fine Arts/Visual Arts/Design Communication. A strong understanding of theatre and live performance set design is preferred, along with experience in luxury weddings, corporate events, and IP-based shows. Proficiency in software tools such as AutoCAD, SketchUp/3Ds Max/Rhino, Lumion/V-Ray/Enscape for rendering, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign, and Microsoft PowerPoint or Keynote for presentations is mandatory. Knowledge of Blender/Cinema 4D and Canva for quick layouts is considered an asset. Personal attributes that will contribute to your success in this role include a strong aesthetic sense, attention to detail, teamwork skills, time management abilities, a passion for design, theatre, and live experiences, as well as the flexibility to work under tight deadlines and long setup hours. Additionally, a willingness to travel for projects, both domestically and internationally, is preferred.
