Job Description

The Site head Plant & Machinery will be responsible for the strategic planning, deployment, operation, and maintenance of all construction and hydro-mechanical equipment at the hydroelectric power plant site. This leadership role requires deep expertise in HEP-specific machinery, terrain-adapted logistics, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance to ensure timely and efficient execution of civil, electromechanical, and hydromechanical works.

  • Lead the deployment and lifecycle management of specialized HEP equipment, including:
    • Cable Cranes / Aerial Ropeways

      :
      • Supervise installation and operation of cable crane systems for transporting heavy construction materials across steep slopes and inaccessible areas.
      • Ensure safe and efficient movement of loads over long spans and rugged terrain.
      • Coordinate with OEMs and ropeway specialists for system design, erection, and commissioning.
      • Utilize gondola systems for safe personnel transport to remote work zones.
    • Radial gates

      penstocks

      dam gates

      ,

      surge shafts

      ,

      spillways

      , and

      hydraulic steel structures

    • Tunnel boring machines

      drilling rigs

      ,

      , and other heavy construction equipment.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
  • Monitor equipment performance and ensure minimal downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to maintain operational continuity.
  • Enforce rigorous safety protocols aligned with national and international standards.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE norms including flood risk management, mechanical failure mitigation, and emergency preparedness.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections in line with ICOLD, OSHA, and MoEFCC guidelines.
  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and operators.
  • Manage vendor relationships for equipment procurement, leasing, servicing, and spare parts inventory.
  • Facilitate training programs for equipment operators and maintenance staff.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of equipment history, maintenance logs, and safety inspections.
  • Generate periodic reports for internal reviews and statutory submissions.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering (Masters preferred).
  • 18–25 years of experience in plant and machinery management, with at least 5 years in hydroelectric projects.
