Job: Assistant Manager -Purchasing & Sourcing Typical Reporting Line: GM Purchase & Sourcing India Job Purpose To manage procurement activities efficiently by sourcing quality materials, negotiating with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining cost-effectiveness to support smooth business operations. --- Key Responsibilities 1. Procurement & Sourcing Identify and evaluate potential suppliers/vendors for materials, equipment, and services. Obtain quotations, compare offers, and prepare comparative statements for decision-making. Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing to ensure cost savings. Develop alternate vendor sources to ensure business continuity. 2. Purchase Order & Documentation Prepare and release purchase orders as per approved requisitions. Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and statutory requirements. Maintain accurate purchase records, contracts, and supplier databases. 3. Vendor Management Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors. Monitor vendor performance in terms of quality, delivery timelines, and service. Conduct periodic vendor audits and evaluations. 4. Cost & Inventory Control Support cost reduction initiatives without compromising on quality. Coordinate with stores/inventory team to avoid stock-outs and overstocking. Monitor market trends and identify opportunities for savings. 5. Cross-functional Coordination Work closely with production, planning, quality, and finance departments. Resolve discrepancies in orders, invoices, and payments in coordination with accounts. 6. Reporting & Compliance Generate regular MIS reports on purchase activities, cost savings, and vendor performance. Ensure compliance with internal audit requirements and procurement policies. --- Key Skills & Competencies Strong negotiation and analytical skills. Knowledge of procurement procedures, taxation, and statutory compliances (GST, import/export if applicable). Good communication and vendor relationship management. Proficiency in MS Office, AI ,POWER BI and ERP systems (D365/SAP / Oracle / Tally, etc.). Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to read engineering drawings Ability to travel frequently to suppliers across the globe (50% travel & 50% working at office) • --- Qualifications & Experience Graduate in any discipline. Preferred: MBA / PG Diploma in Supply Chain / Materials Management. 610 years of experience in procurement / purchase in a manufacturing or trading environment.
