This is an opportunity to play a key role in Dolby's new R&D Center in Bangalore as a Research Lead in the Advanced Technology Group (ATG), the research and technology arm of Dolby Labs. The ATG focuses on innovating technologies in various areas such as audio, video, AR/VR, gaming, music, broadcast, and user-generated content. Competencies related to computer science and electrical engineering, including AI/ML, computer vision, data science & analytics, distributed systems, cloud, edge & mobile computing, natural language processing, social network analysis, and computer graphics are highly relevant to the research conducted at Dolby. As a Research Lead within Dolby ATG research, you will focus on three key areas of expertise: State-of-the-art, cutting-edge, hands-on research: Invent and develop the next generation of AI-based multimodal image, audio, and speech technologies. Explore the applications of AI to multimedia technologies, including video and audio enhancement, analysis, classification, and separation. Create technologies for the next generation of Dolby's offerings. Managing, nurturing, and grooming top research talent: Lead and mentor a group of AI researchers focusing on multimodal analysis, processing, playback, and enhancement. Develop junior, highly talented staff into independent researchers in a corporate environment. Contribute to creating a dynamic, flexible, transparent, results-oriented, and innovative working atmosphere. Technology strategy and direction setting: Define and lead research initiatives leveraging cross-media intelligence and analytics. Invent multimodal machine learning algorithms and utilize a deep understanding of multimodal perception to develop the next generation of multimedia technologies. Collaborate with global research teams to set directions and identify projects for AI-based technologies. Education and desired experience: Ph.D. plus 5-10 years of corporate research experience in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science with a focus on AI. Expertise in AI technologies with a detailed understanding of network architectures, data augmentation, and performance analysis. Track record of applying AI technologies to multimodal problems and productizing novel AI-based technologies. Strong publication record and background in statistical signal processing, decision theory, and machine learning conferences. Experience in audio and video processing, C/C++, Python, TensorFlow, or PyTorch is desirable. Ability to manage, guide, and mentor researchers and work effectively in cross-continental teams.
