Responsibilities: Thought Leadership & Solution Creation: Provide thought leadership, guidance, and create solutions to position DXC's customers for the future. Create designs based on abstract concepts and existing manual activities. Application-Centric Infrastructure: Bring an application perspective to the infrastructure organization, providing approaches to optimizing mainframe applications for cost and product selection. Developer Tooling & Automation: Assist in ensuring that the tools and process automation for developers are consistent with modern tools. Code Migration (z/OS to zLinux): Assist in creating the approach and steps to move application code from z/OS to zLinux on the same machine, including batch, DB2, CICS, MQ, and IMS based code. Optimization & Implementation: Identify, architect, design, and implement optimization methods to meet program requirements. Tool Integration: Integrate solutions with the ES standard management tools. Post-Production Support: Perform flow and software modification after the solution has been brought into production. Standardization & Automation: Promote standardization and automation during implementation. Knowledge Expansion: Help expand engineering repositories (Playbooks, CMR) and Portfolio websites/repositories (What we sell, DXC Portfolio portals). Leverage Existing Assets: Ensure that existing implementation/deliverables/templates are leveraged to satisfy new work requests. Quality & Documentation: Ensure applicable content standards are met and peer review deliverables are logged. Store engineering-related collateral in approved configuration management repository. Design & Project Execution: Produce/review/participate in Low Level Designs based on High Level Designs and client requirements. Ensure projects and tasks are performed with the highest quality and according to documentation within predefined timelines. Required Skills: Essential Technical: Proficiency in Application and infrastructure engineering . COBOL & DB2 development skills. Ability to migrate code and/or data from z/OS to Linux. Familiarity with mainframe job schedulers such as BMC-Control/M, CA-7, etc. Excellent understanding of DXC ITSM/ITIL framework and processes . Proficient knowledge of DXC workflow tools. Proficiency in MS Office . Personal Skills & Qualities: Self-motivated individual, able to work independently, in coordination with a team. Able to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams. Ability to translate customer, business, and functional requirements. Excellent customer, telephone, oral and written communications skills. Analytical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Strong time management skills and ability to work with tough deadlines. Fluent in written and spoken English language. Desired Technical Skills: Understanding of DXC Server hardware and datacenter concepts. Understanding of CICS and MQ. Linux scripting. Proficiency with one or more of the following: Java, Python, Windows PowerShell, Perl, Linux Shell, SQL scripting, VBScript. Working knowledge of platforms (Wintel, Linux and Virtualization), networking components (TCP/IP, DNS, and VLAN), and database environments. Understanding of storage and backup technologies.
