DB2 Database Administrator (DBA)

Your Role And Responsibilities

• Collaborate with application developers to design and optimize DB2 database schemas, queries, and stored procedures.
• Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.
• Ensure data integrity, security, and availability across DB2 environments.
• Support application deployments and troubleshoot database-related issues.
• Monitor and maintain database health using tools.
• Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies.
• Participate in capacity planning and disaster recovery exercises.
• Maintain documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and standards.
• Stay updated with DB2 features, patches, and best practices
  

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a DB2 DBA, preferably in an application-focused role.
• Strong knowledge of DB2 LUW (Linux, Unix, Windows)
• Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and performance tuning techniques.
• Experience with database design, normalization, and data modeling.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

• Experience with other RDBMS platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
• Knowledge of cloud-based DB2 deployments (e.g., watsonX.data).
• Exposure to Agile methodologies and tools like Jira or Confluence.
• Experience with automation tools and scripting (Shell, Python, etc.)
• Experience with monitoring tools (e.g. Instana)
• Experience in solutions engineering.
