Job Title: Data Security Engineer (DLP & DSP)

About the Role

Data Security Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage

    Data Loss Prevention (DLP)

    solutions to monitor, detect, and protect sensitive data in motion, at rest, and in use.
  • Administer and optimize

    DSPM

    such as Varonis, BigID, or equivalent, ensuring effective classification, discovery, and protection of enterprise data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (cloud, infrastructure, applications, compliance) to define and enforce data protection policies.
  • Conduct

    data risk assessments

    , identify gaps, and implement corrective actions.
  • Define, implement, and manage

    data classification, encryption, and access control frameworks

    .
  • Develop and maintain incident response processes for

    data-related security events

    .
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements (GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, etc.) and internal governance standards.
  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations for

    data protection strategy

    in both on-premises and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Perform regular audits, monitoring, and reporting of data security posture.
  • Partner with SOC/IR teams to investigate and respond to

    data breaches or policy violations

    .

Required Skills & Experience

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in

    data security

    , with at least 3+ years in

    DLP and DSPM tools

    .
  • Strong knowledge of

    data classification, encryption, access management, and data protection frameworks

    .
  • Expertise with DLP tools (e.g.,

    Symantec, McAfee, Microsoft Purview DLP, Forcepoint, Zscaler DLP

    ) and DSP solutions (e.g.,

    Varonis, BigID, OneTrust, Imperva, Netskope

    ).
  • Experience working in

    hybrid environments

    (on-prem, SaaS, and multi-cloud).
  • Familiarity with

    data privacy regulations

    (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop technical documentation, policies, and training material for stakeholders.

Good to Have

  • Certifications such as

    CISSP, CISM, CISA, CCSP, or vendor-specific DLP/DSP certifications

    .
  • Knowledge of

    SIEM/SOAR tools

    and their integration with DLP/DSP platforms.
  • Prior experience in

    data governance

    and

    insider threat programs

    .
