Data Engineer with Spark/Scala

Role Overview: As a Data Engineering specialist in the Guidewire Data and Analytics team, you will be responsible for delivering data engineering solutions to customers on time and effectively. You will collaborate with teams globally and work towards ensuring customer success on the Guidewire Cloud Platform. Your role will involve improving internal processes, creating new tooling, and adapting to fast-paced Agile environments. Key Responsibilities: - Deliver data engineering solutions for customers on time and effectively. - Work within the broader Guidewire data team to enhance internal processes and methodology. - Participate in creating new tooling to support and streamline project outcomes. - Be a self-motivated problem-solver who prioritizes customer success. - Adapt and perform at a high level in demanding fast-paced Agile environments. Qualifications: - Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent professional competency, with 5+ years of experience in delivery roles. - Multiple project experience with functional programming concepts. - Minimum 3 years of experience with Scala programming language. - Minimum 2 years of experience with Apache Spark for big data processing. - Experience in performance tuning of Data Engineering frameworks for near real-time applications. - Familiarity with designing and deploying CI/CD pipelines. - Knowledge of data processing and ETL concepts. - Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases. - Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure. - Experience in developing and deploying production REST APIs. - Ability to work with customer teams to understand business objectives and functional requirements. - Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
