Cylindrical Grinding Operator

Job description:

The Cylindrical Grinding Operator will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining cylindrical grinding machines to achieve precise dimensions and surface finish as per engineering drawings and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate cylindrical grinding machines (manual/NC/CNC as applicable).
• Interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and job orders.
• Select appropriate grinding wheels, fixtures, and measuring instruments.
• Perform grinding operations to achieve required size, tolerance, and surface finish.
• Inspect finished components using micrometers, vernier calipers, gauges, and other precision instruments.
• Monitor machine operations, adjust parameters, and maintain accuracy throughout production.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure proper functioning.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in the work area.
• Collaborate with supervisors and the quality team for continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of the cylindrical grinding process, machine setup, and tooling.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Proficiency in using measuring instruments (micrometer, vernier caliper, bore gauge, etc.).
• Basic knowledge of machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Attention to detail and a precision-oriented approach.
• Understanding of workplace safety practices.

Qualification & Experience:

• ITI / Diploma in Machinist, Turner, Grinder, or related trade.
• 2–5 years of hands-on experience in cylindrical grinding operations (experience with CNC grinding will be an added advantage).
• Freshers with technical training may be considered for trainee positions.
