Customs Operations Manager Transforming how we interact with our vehicles to make the driving experience more enjoyable, connected, and safe. Job Title:Customs Operations Manager Location: Bangalore, Chennai Experience:10- 15 years (depending on the specific role and company) Industry:Logistics/Supply Chain Key Responsibilities: Customs Clearance Operations: Lead the end-to-end customs clearance process for import and export shipments for India Handle India Customs special programs : Lead Duty Drawback, AEO, Special Economic Zone Understand of Free trade Agreements: Drive the process of Origin Determination and FTA for process for India. Product Classification process: Ensure that all India products have a proper Product classification defined and manage HTS determination and management of outsourced partner Documentation: Handle and ensure that documentation for import, export, and licenses, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Broker Management: Ensure the management of the customs brokerage Coordination: Lead customs brokers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to ensure timely clearance of goods. Compliance: Stay updated with the latest customs regulations, tariffs, and duties. Ensure compliance with all applicable customs laws, government policies, and international trade regulations. Audits and Inspections: Manage customs audits and inspections, ensuring all documentation is in compliance with legal requirements. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks related to customs clearance, duties, and compliance. Reporting: Prepare periodic reports on customs operations and compliance. Key Skills and Qualifications: Experience: Relevant experience in customs clearance, logistics, or international trade. Experience in other countries : a plus if have knowledge of other Asian countries ( Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia) Knowledge: Familiarity with customs laws, regulations, duty structures in India. Communication: Excellent communication and negotiation skills to deal with customs authorities and internal stakeholders. Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and analytical skills. As an Import Documentation Specialist, you will play a crucial role in our team by preparing and processing import documentation in accordance with customs regulations and laws. Your attention to detail and knowledge of classification codes will ensure the smooth flow of import transactions. Your responsibilities will include preparing commercial invoices, bills of lading, and customs declarations while maintaining accuracy and completeness to prevent delays or penalties. You will work closely with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and efficiency in the import process. In addition, staying up-to-date with changes in customs regulations and procedures will be essential to your success in this role. Your strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment will contribute to the timely and accurate processing of import documentation. To qualify for this position, you should have at least 2 years of experience in import documentation or a related field, along with a solid understanding of customs regulations and laws. Familiarity with Harmonized System (HS) codes and classification is required, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office and specialized customs software. A Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as international trade, logistics, or business, is preferred. Certification as a Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or equivalent would be an added advantage. This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive salary of up to 40K per month. The job may require working night shifts or US shifts, and the work location is on-site.
