CSSD Incharge

The CSSD Technician is responsible for the decontamination, sterilization, assembly, storage, and distribution of medical instruments and equipment. You will ensure that all surgical and procedural equipment is safe, sterile, and available for use in operating rooms, wards, and other clinical areas. Your key responsibilities will include cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing surgical instruments and medical equipment using autoclaves, washers, and other sterilization tools. You will also inspect, assemble, and pack instrument sets and trays according to established protocols, maintaining accurate records of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and inventory. Monitoring and verifying the proper functioning of sterilization equipment, reporting any issues, ensuring proper labeling, storage, and rotation of sterile supplies to maintain sterility, and adhering to infection control and hospital safety guidelines at all times are crucial aspects of your role. Additionally, you will assist in the distribution and retrieval of sterile and used instruments to and from clinical areas and participate in training programs to stay up-to-date with best practices in sterilization techniques. To qualify for this position, you should have a high school diploma or equivalent, with certification in CSSD / Sterile Processing being preferred or required based on hospital policy. Ideally, you will have 1-2 years of experience in a hospital CSSD or related setting and possess basic knowledge of infection control and sterilization procedures. Your success in this role will be supported by your attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols, good communication and organizational skills, physical stamina to stand for long periods and handle heavy trays, and ability to work as part of a team in a high-pressure environment.
