As a Purchase Engineer based in Bangalore (Bommasandra), you will be responsible for handling various procurement activities related to materials and supplies. With a qualification in BE-Mechanical/Automobile/Industrial Engineering and 2-4 years of relevant experience, you will report directly to the Engineering Manager. Your primary duties will include processing inquiries, obtaining quotations, estimating costs, negotiating with vendors, and placing orders. You will also be tasked with managing material purchase requisitions (MRPs) and purchase orders (POs). Additionally, you will be required to prepare Comparative Statements, analyze Quotations, and maintain effective communication with vendors throughout the manufacturing process. Experience in handling imports, including import documentation and customs formalities, will be crucial for this role. You will collaborate with suppliers, engineering teams, quality control, and marketing departments during the component development process. Moreover, you will need to update and maintain vendor ratings, possess knowledge of credit purchasing, and have a basic understanding of costing principles. Familiarity with ERP systems, coordinating with forwarders and clearing agents for imports, and ensuring adequate stock levels of raw materials through Kanban reports will be part of your daily responsibilities. Finding and sourcing new suppliers, resolving procurement-related queries, and maintaining effective communication with various departments are integral aspects of this role. The ideal candidate should have previous experience as a Purchase Engineer or in a similar role, excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong negotiation and persuasion abilities. Knowledge of different steel grades and international equivalents is essential for this position.
