You are an experienced and motivated Team Lead Medical Coder seeking to join our team at the Vizag office in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Your role will involve overseeing a group of medical coders, ensuring accurate and timely coding, monitoring quality and productivity, providing guidance, and acting as the main point of contact between team members and management. As a Team Lead Medical Coder, your key responsibilities will include supervising, mentoring, and training a team of medical coders to achieve defined quality, accuracy, and productivity targets. You will allocate work, track team performance, ensure deadlines are consistently met, and conduct regular audits of coded charts to maintain compliance with industry standards and client requirements. Providing feedback, coaching, and development plans for team members, participating in recruitment and ongoing training, acting as a subject-matter expert, and liaising with management and other departments will also be part of your role. Additionally, you will prepare and share performance reports, ensure adherence to data privacy and confidentiality requirements, and work on corrective actions as needed. To qualify for this position, you should be a graduate in Life Sciences, Paramedical Science, or a related field, with advanced degrees/certifications preferred. You should have a minimum of 8-12 years of experience in medical coding, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or Team Lead role. In-depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS, and medical terminology, as well as strong team management, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, hands-on experience with medical coding software and MS Office tools, and the ability to work independently and under tight deadlines are also required. Commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and ethical coding practices is crucial. Preferred qualifications include previous experience working for US healthcare clients, exposure to denial management and revenue cycle management processes, and active coding certification(s). This is a full-time, permanent position with rotational shifts and flexibility as per business requirements. The work location is onsite in Vizag (Visakhapatnam), Andhra Pradesh.
