About COVU COVU is building the AI-native infrastructure for insurance and risk management. We’re reinventing how insurance is distributed, embedded, and managed—starting with agency roll-ups and expanding into a vertically integrated platform that spans customer engagement, underwriting intelligence, and product distribution. We’ve raised over $30M, acquired multiple agencies, and are building the operating system for risk. Now we’re looking for a technical co-architect and executive builder to take the reins of our platform and lead us into the next phase of intelligent insurance. The Role As CTO, you will be responsible for driving the technical vision, architecture, and execution strategy behind our core infrastructure. You will lead and grow a team of engineers and technical leaders, and play a critical role in aligning product, AI, and operational strategy. We’re looking for a visionary and pragmatic builder—someone who has scaled systems before, thrives in early-stage chaos, and wants to help define the future of regulated, high-stakes digital infrastructure. This is not a figurehead role. We want someone who’s been in the trenches, knows what it takes to ship, scale, and secure complex systems, and is excited to lead from the front. Key Responsibilities Own and evolve the technical vision, system architecture, and infrastructure roadmap Build a scalable and modular core platform that supports quoting, servicing, data intelligence, and agency tools Lead, hire, and mentor a growing engineering team and future VPs/directors Oversee AI/ML integration with structured customer and product data Ensure best practices in data security, compliance, performance, and availability Act as a cross-functional leader with Product, Ops, and Growth to deliver on business goals Represent COVU in strategic technical conversations with partners, carriers, and investors Ideal Profile 15+ yrs building cloud platforms (≥ 10 yrs in leadership); prior CTO or Chief Architect in a high‑growth SaaS (or insurtech) Fluency in modern architecture: event-driven systems, microservices, AI/ML pipelines, modular APIs Deep AWS expertise (serverless, IAM, networking, cost governance) & strong security mindset (SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI or similar). Has shipped scalable, secure systems in regulated or data-sensitive industries (insurance, fintech, healthtech) Hands‑on polyglot engineer; can still whiteboard elegant system designs. Inspiring storyteller & board‑ready communicator. Bonus: experience working with insurance carriers, MGAs, or compliance requirements Traits That Matter Builder’s Mindset – You get excited about designing and shipping. You don’t just whiteboard—you roll up your sleeves. Strategic & Tactical – You can lead the technical roadmap and dive into edge cases with engineers. Talent Magnet – You’ve built high-performing engineering teams and can attract top-tier talent. Bias Toward Clarity & Speed – You value rapid learning, continuous improvement, and clear direction. Cross-Functional Leader – You’re comfortable aligning technical teams with product, ops, and GTM. Compensation Competitive executive salary Substantial equity package (foundational leadership tier) Health, wellness, and performance incentives Opportunity to grow with the company into a long-term C-suite leader Location Ideally based in San Francisco or Los Angeles Remote OK for exceptional candidates with proven track records Some travel expected for executive planning, offsites, and strategy sessions Why Join Now? This is a rare opportunity to define and lead the technology layer of a high-growth, high-impact platform from the ground up. You’ll have the ownership, capital, and vision to build something that redefines how the insurance industry works—and a leadership team deeply committed to doing it right. Show more Show less

Location: United States | Flexible / Remote Type Board Appointment | Quarterly Engagement | Equity + Optional Compensation About COVU COVU is the AI-native infrastructure company redefining how insurance is distributed, managed, and experienced. We are building the most intelligent platform for customer and risk management, starting with agency roll-ups and evolving into a full risk ecosystem—from distribution to product to marketplace. Having raised over $30M+ and already acquired six insurance agencies, we’re scaling rapidly and building an enduring company at the intersection of insurance, technology, and transformation. Our leadership team brings deep startup, AI, and distribution experience—and now we’re looking for a board-level partner to guide us through the next phase of growth. The Opportunity We are seeking an Independent Board Member with deep expertise in insurance brokerage operations, M&A strategy, and industry influence to help steer COVU’s strategic and operational development. You will act as a senior advisor to the CEO and executive team, bringing your decades of experience and network to help us scale, integrate, and lead in this evolving landscape. This role is ideal for a former brokerage executive or board leader with a track record of building, scaling, and exiting insurance platforms—and someone who can still pick up the phone and open doors at the carrier, brokerage, and PE/VC level. Key Responsibilities Strategic Oversight: Guide COVU’s insurance operations strategy, from agency acquisitions to platform integration and carrier negotiations. M&A Expertise: Advise on acquisition targets, deal structuring, and post-merger integration playbooks. Brokerage & Distribution Insight: Help shape our brokerage expansion strategy—including aggregators, market access models, and geographic expansion. Relationship Catalyst: Leverage your existing carrier, broker, MGA, and investor relationships to support strategic growth and open critical doors. Governance & Stewardship: Provide independent perspective on risk, compliance, and corporate governance as we mature toward later-stage growth. Ideal Profile Former CEO, President, or C-suite executive at an insurance company, national brokerage, aggregator, or insurtech platform Demonstrated experience with insurance M&A, including buy-side rollups and integrations Strategic thinker with board experience and a deep understanding of insurance economics Well-respected voice in the insurance industry with high-trust relationships across carriers, MGAs, brokers, and private equity networks Strong affinity for innovation, technology, and the transformation of legacy insurance systems Hands-on, collaborative, and excited to support a new generation of insurance leadership Engagement Terms Quarterly board meetings (virtual or in-person) Strategic advisory calls with executive team as needed Equity-based compensation (customized for experience and involvement) Optional cash retainer or consulting scope for operational involvement Why Join Us? COVU is not just another insurtech. We’re building a vertically integrated, AI-native risk platform—and we’re serious about doing it the right way: with execution, industry grounding, and visionary leadership. Location: Type United States (California Preferred, Remote OK) Full-Time | Senior Executive | Competitive Salary + Equity About COVU COVU is on the mission of reimagining insurance through building the AI-native infrastructure for the insurance industry—transforming how agencies, carriers, and customers interact with risk. With $30M+ raised and six agencies already acquired, we are rolling out a new operating system for insurance distribution, combining intelligent customer management, embedded product access, and scalable partnerships. We’re scaling fast—and we need a proven insurance operator and strategic builder to help us expand our external ecosystem of carriers, aggregators, brokerages, and agency partners. The Role We’re seeking a Head of Strategic Relations—a senior insurance leader who knows how to build, not just manage. You’ll lead our national partnership efforts, launching and scaling initiatives that sit at the heart of COVU’s growth: from carrier alliances and aggregator plays to embedded agency clusters and multi-state rollups. This is not a BD role. It’s a foundational operating role for someone who has built, scaled, or sold brokerages, agencies, or platforms—and is ready to do it again inside a high-growth tech company. You’ll report directly to the CEO and work closely with the executive team to drive outcomes that grow revenue, expand influence, and cement COVU’s market leadership. What You’ll Do Build & Lead Strategic Partnerships: Design, structure, and scale COVU’s relationships with carriers, MGAs, aggregators, franchise networks, and agency groups. Stand Up Market Access Functionality: Launch our agency-facing market access and product distribution ecosystem. Own Partner Strategy: Develop strategic relationships with decision-makers at carriers and large brokerages—helping COVU secure appointments, programs, and joint ventures. Launch Growth Channels: Identify and own strategic GTM initiatives that create leverage—e.g., white-label partnerships, MGA launches, cluster integrations, etc. Act Like a CEO: Operate independently, make strategic calls, and build your function from the ground up—while staying hands-on with deals, operations, and execution. Represent COVU: Externally as a trusted, respected partner and internally as a key leader helping shape our business model. You Might Be a Fit If You Have 10–20+ years of insurance leadership experience with P&L responsibility Were a CEO, President, or Founder of a successful brokerage, agency group, cluster, or insurtech Know how to build a business from scratch, create structure out of chaos, and lead by example Have a deep network of carrier, MGA, and aggregator relationships across the U.S. Have a track record of closing complex strategic deals and delivering results Are just as comfortable in a boardroom with a CEO as you are in the field with producers Bonus: Have experience in insurtech, AI, embedded distribution, or underwriting modernization You want to build something that redefines how insurance works Cultural Traits We’re Looking For Entrepreneurial Operator – You don’t wait for permission. You identify what’s needed and make it happen. Low Ego, High Output – You’re about results, not status. Builder, Not Bureaucrat – You’d rather build a revenue engine than write a deck about it. Industry Credibility with a Modern Mindset – You know the old way, but you’re building the new way. Compensation & Structure Competitive base salary Substantial equity package Benefits + performance incentives Title flexibility (SVP, Head of, or C-level depending on background) Location & Travel California-based preferred (LA or SF access ideal), but remote for the right candidate Some travel expected for carrier and partner meetings, events, and leadership offsites Why Join Us? COVU is not just another insurtech. We’re building a vertically integrated, AI-native risk platform—and we’re serious about doing it the right way: with execution, industry grounding, and visionary leadership.
