The job involves proposing and developing new kinematic mechanisms while considering design constraints, performance, and business requirements. You will be responsible for understanding the type of joints/connections needed for Multi-Body Systems (MBS) modeling using CAD data. An understanding of the tradeoff between MBS model complexity and development time is crucial. You will create hard points for joints/connections in CATIA and develop stick models to analyze the kinematics of mechanisms. Additionally, creating MBS models with friction, contacts, springs, forces, and constraints is a key part of the role. Moreover, you will perform pre-processing and post-processing tasks for creating flexible bodies, including mesh clean up, ASET nodes, interpreting EIGEN values, and MNF generation. As part of the job, you will be involved in clearance/clash prediction, Design of Experiments (DoE), Sensitivity Studies, Failure Analysis, and Stiffness correlations. Determining forces, torques, displacements, and range of motion using MBS will be essential, along with correlating MBS model results with Physical Test outcomes when necessary. The ideal candidate should have a basic knowledge of aircraft architecture and flight loads, as well as a good understanding of movable mechanical systems in aircraft. Sound knowledge of kinematic joints, DOFs, couplers, and gear systems is required. Hands-on experience with design and analysis of mechanisms, creating flexible bodies for MBS, and basic meshing is essential. Ability to understand and create/modify Python scripts, good analytical skills, and experience with co-simulation using MSC Adams will be advantageous.
