Position: Conventional Lathe Operator (Horizontal & Vertical)

Location: Saudi Arabia

Job Purpose:

To operate and maintain horizontal and vertical conventional lathe machines to perform precision turning, facing, threading, and other machining operations according to engineering drawings and job specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate horizontal and vertical manual lathe machines for different machining tasks.
• Interpret engineering drawings, machining sketches, tolerances, and specifications accurately.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for material type and machining requirements.
• Perform turning, facing, grooving, boring, taper turning, threading, and drilling operations.
• Ensure accurate alignment of workpieces and secure mounting using chucks, fixtures, and centers.
• Measure and verify dimensions using micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators, gauges, and other precision tools.
• Maintain close tolerances and ensure components meet required dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
• Monitor machining conditions and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality.
• Perform regular cleaning, lubrication, and routine maintenance of lathe machines.
• Maintain safe working practices with tools, materials, and rotating machinery.
• Work closely with supervisors or engineers to clarify specifications or resolve machining challenges.
• Keep work area neat, clean, and compliant with shop safety standards.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Proven experience operating conventional horizontal and vertical lathe machines.
• Strong knowledge of turning operations and manual machining techniques.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and tolerance requirements.
• Skilled in using measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
• Knowledge of selecting tools, adjusting parameters, and maintaining proper machine setup.
• Good understanding of various metals and machining parameters.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy.
• Good problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Physically fit to handle machining tasks and heavy workpieces.

Preferred:

• Experience in a machine shop, fabrication, or industrial manufacturing environment.
• Basic knowledge of lathe machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
