1. Leadership and Management : The PICU Incharge is responsible for overseeing the day - to - day operations of the PICU. This includes supervising nursing and medical staff, scheduling, and ensuring that the unit is adequately staffed. 2. Patient Care : Ensuring the delivery of high - quality care to critically ill pediatric patients is a primary responsibility. The Incharge must ensure that the patients receive the appropriate treatment, medications, and monitoring as per their medical conditions. 3. Staff Supervision : Supervising the nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals within the PICU, ensuring they adhere to protocols, provide quality care, and maintain a safe and efficient work environment. 4. Training and Development : Providing training and professional development opportunities for staff to keep them updated with the latest advances in pediatric critical care and to improve their skills. 5. Protocol Adherence : Ensuring that all staff members adhere to established protocols, guidelines, and best practices for pediatric intensive care. This includes monitoring the consistent application of medical and nursing protocols. 6. Family Communication : Interacting with the families of pediatric patients, providing them with updates on their child's condition, and addressing their concerns and questions. 7. Quality Assurance : Monitoring and evaluating the quality of care and patient outcomes in the PICU and implementing improvement initiatives as needed.
