Job Description

Consultant Nuclear Medicine

Key Responsibilities

A. Clinical & Diagnostic

  • Interpret and supervise

    PET-CT

    and

    SPECT-CT/gamma camera

    studies.
  • Develop and optimize imaging protocols for oncology, cardiology, neurology, and infection imaging.
  • Participate in

    multidisciplinary tumor boards

    with oncologists and surgeons.
  • Ensure quality assurance in radiopharmaceutical preparation, image acquisition, and reporting.
  • Maintain high accuracy, safety, and diagnostic value in all nuclear imaging studies.

B. Therapeutic

  • Administer and monitor radionuclide therapies (I-131, Lu-177 DOTATATE/PSMA, Sm-153, etc.).
  • Ensure complete documentation, therapy records, and compliance with

    AERB & NABH

    norms.
  • Counsel patients on safety, risks, and post-therapy precautions.

C. Administrative & Operational

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Nuclear Medicine department (PET-CT, gamma camera, radiopharmacy).
  • Supervise technologists, nurses, and radiopharmacy personnel.
  • Coordinate with biomedical and maintenance teams for equipment uptime and calibration.
  • Ensure full compliance with AERB, Atomic Energy Act, and institutional policies.
  • Prepare departmental reports, budgets, and contribute to service optimization and business growth.

D. Academic & Quality

  • Train technologists, residents, and nurses on procedures and radiation safety.
  • Participate in audits, QC programs, and protocol standardization.
  • Contribute to CME programs, conferences, and publish scientific work where applicable.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential:

    MD / DNB in Nuclear Medicine from an MCI/NMC-recognized institute.
  • Desirable:

    Fellowship or hands-on experience in PET-CT reporting and radionuclide therapy.
  • Experience:

    Minimum

    3–5 years

    in a high-volume Nuclear Medicine setup handling both diagnostic & therapeutic procedures.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong clinical judgment, especially in oncology-focused PET-CT interpretation.
  • Knowledge of radiopharmaceuticals, QA/QC, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • High commitment to patient safety, empathy, and ethical practice.

  • PET-CT reporting TAT:

    24 hours

  • SPECT reporting TAT:

    48 hours

  • Patient satisfaction:

    90%

  • Equipment uptime:

    95%

  • AERB & NABH compliance:

    100%

  • Annual study-volume growth:

    10%

Work Schedule

  • Working Hours:

    9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Hybrid Model:

    • 3 days Onsite

    • 3 days Work From Home (WFH)

      — reporting must meet TAT requirements

Leaves & Holidays

  • Paid Leaves:

    7 per year (max 2 consecutively; can be combined up to 7).
  • Holidays:

    5 per year.
