Under direct supervision and direction of a Lead / senior engineer, this role is responsible for a project or part of a project requiring knowledge of conceptual design, FEED / outline design, detailed design for transmission and distribution projects. The role requires supporting other engineers by performing the design assignments in coordination with other team members and ensure that project outcomes in terms of schedule, technical and quality standards etc., meet both the client and Stantec expectations. Key Accountabilities: Preparing plans, specifications, and design packages for transmission line projects. Producing technical presentations and design drawings. Perform detailed studies, prepare plans, transmission line modeling and design tasks associated with utilities or other types of projects, under the supervision of a regional lead / project engineer. Optioneering and outline design relating to Transmission Distribution and Industrial projects. Preparation of technical reports/ drawings sketches. Perform detailed design and engineering calculations of the overhead electric distribution systems to comply with the client s standards, specifications, preferences, and relevant industry standards (NESC, RUS, etc.) Guiding Engineering/ CAD team for quality delivery and ensure that Stantec Design Practices are followed. Perform self-check and QA/QC on projects before submittal to the client. Prepare cost estimates on engineering and construction packages. Develop a bill of material required for construction based on client standards. Develop permit drawings as necessary to accommodate construction. Capable to analyze, assess, evaluate the issues, complexity pertaining to projects / work packages and support the lead in mitigating them in advance. Knowledge of concrete and steel structures - analysis and design. Carry out other duties as may be assigned from time to time by supervisor/management. Need to work off-hours for regional co-ordination: Occasionally.
