Roles and Responsibilities: Discover and invent new techniques and methods in modeling, design, and measurement . Lead a team in developing major new products , guiding and directing the activities of multifunctional teams according to engineering management priorities. Perform high-speed empirical and analytical signal integrity evaluations of connectors . Recommend changes in designs or technical procedures to optimize performance and reliability. Conduct and coordinate analytical simulations for connector systems . Provide development input to design teams , and create electrical product models and documentation . Analyze variation dependence and perform parametric optimization . Work in a laboratory environment to validate designs and correlate measurements with simulations using instruments like VNA (Vector Network Analyzer), TDR (Time-Domain Reflectometer), and Oscilloscope . Perform other related duties as assigned by management. Education: Required: BSEE, BS Physics, or BS Applied Math . Preferred: MS and PhD in the above disciplines. Skills Sets: Required: Technical Team leadership . Software Proficiency: Ansys HFSS & Designer, CST, Agilent ADS & PLTS, Matlab. Test and Measurement Expertise: VNA, TDR. Strong capabilities in Channel modeling and correlation, connector design and validation . Ability to mentor junior engineers. Proven ability to publish technical papers . We are seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Mechanical Product Development Engineer to join our Power Products team in our Bengaluru office. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development of power connector solutions, from concept generation through design, verification, qualification, and production launch. You will engage closely with the Lead Engineers to capture the Voice of the Customer (VOC) and ensure product designs meet all mechanical, electrical, and environmental requirements while ensuring manufacturability and cost-effectiveness. You will work as part of a global cross-functional team, interfacing regularly with program management, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. Role & responsibilities Lead the design, development, and validation of new power connector, cable assemblies products, and related accessories. Capture customer requirements into the product design. Drive concept generation, mechanical and electrical design verification, and qualification testing. Support defining and executing verification and product qualification test plans. Conduct and lead technical reviews, including Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA), Tolerance Stack-ups, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and design validation. Perform FEA structural simulations, and environmental stress testing. Ensure designs meet applicable industry standards (e.g., UL 1977, IEC 62196-2, UL 2202, etc.). Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and project teams. Interface directly with PM and Sales to present technical solutions and gather feedback. Collaborate with global engineering, marketing, sales, manufacturing, and quality teams. Drive innovative solutions, stay updated with emerging technologies, and initiate cost-saving initiatives. Support new business opportunities through proposal and design development activities. Ensure health, safety, and regulatory compliance throughout product development activities. Preferred candidate profile Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Masters Degree preferred. 8 + years of experience in mechanical product design and development, preferably with power connectors or related electromechanical products/ Connectors. Expertise with CAD software: Creo (mandatory), SolidWorks familiarity a plus. Proficient in FEA tools such as ANSYS. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes including injection molding, stamping, plating, molding, and assembly. Solid understanding of mechanics of materials. Strong knowledge if DFM and DFA. Experience in designing latching mechanisms, sealing mechanisms, and plastic injection molded parts. Experience with PLM systems (Windchill). Knowledge of product design methodologies: GD&T, DFM, DFMEA, statistical tolerance stack analysis. Experience in product testing, validation processes, and qualification protocols. Understanding of Six Sigma and statistical process control (DFSS knowledge is a plus). Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively present technical information to global customers and internal stakeholders. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision. Knowledge of global industry standards and regulatory certifications (e.g., UL, IEC, EIA). High technical aptitude and willingness to continually learn and adapt to new technologies.
